Song
Still Held
This song meets us in a sacred and tender place: the ache of mourning someone we love, when the house is quiet and the heart does not know how to begin. Before you can serve honestly, it helps to look honestly at your own heart. Scripture gives us a command for exactly that. 2 Corinthians 13:5 says: "Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you — unless, of course, you fail the test?" Paul's command is not meant to produce fear or endless introspection. Healthy self-examination brings clarity, humility, repentance, and deeper assurance. It protects us from two equal dangers: presumption ("I'm fine because I said a prayer once") and despair ("I'll never measure up"). The goal is to see whether the life of Christ is truly present and producing fruit — and few fruits are more telling than a heart learning to receive and extend God's comfort. Use this guide alongside the seven days of this devotional — ideally in one unhurried, quiet hour before the Lord.
"Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
A song for the road you're on.

Still Held Dirt Road Gospel Music DirtRoadGospelMusic.com [Verse 1] I can't believe you're really gone I just saw you yesterday The chair is empty, the house is quiet And I can't find the words to say I keep reaching for the phone Like you're still on the other end Grief sits heavy in my chest And I don't know how to begin [Chorus] But I'm still held, even in the dark Still held by the One who knows my heart Jesus wept beside the grave So I know He understands These tears don't lie But I'm still held in His hands [Verse 2] I remember how you laughed How you carried what you could How faith looked ordinary In the way you simply stood Now the nights feel longer And the mornings come too slow I don't have the answers Just this ache I can't let go [Chorus] But I'm still held, even in the dark Still held by the One who knows my heart Jesus wept beside the grave So I know He understands These tears don't lie But I'm still held in His hands [Bridge] Precious in the sight of the Lord Is the death of His own And the same voice that called you home Still whispers, "You're not alone" Death don't get the final word Love already won that fight So I'll walk this valley knowing You're held in greater light [Final Chorus] I'm still held, even in the dark Still held — You're the One who knows my heart Lord, You wept beside the grave So I know You understand These tears don't lie But I'm still held, still held in Your hands [Outro] Lord, You are close to the brokenhearted You walk with me through this valley You are the resurrection and the life Hold us until You wipe away every tear Still held Still held
