Song
Pull Me Closer
The song begins with a man in motion: "I've been running down a road that don't lead home." The image is more than a bad direction on a map. It is the exhausting pattern of trying to outrun emptiness, shame, or God Himself. He is driving on fumes, but the road keeps calling. Many of us recognize that road: more noise, more work, more distraction, another mile that promises relief but never brings us home. Psalm 139 answers the runner with a question: "Where can I go from your Spirit?" David runs the whole map—heavens, depths, dawn, the far side of the sea—and every destination contains the same surprise: God is there. This is not surveillance by an angry pursuer. The final lines tell us what God’s presence does: His hand guides, and His right hand holds fast. The One we fear meeting at the end of the road is the One who has been offering a hand all along. That changes repentance. Repentance is not traveling far enough to earn our way back to God. It is turning toward the God who was already present in the far country. The song’s runner cannot solve his distance by running harder; he needs to stop, tell the truth, and receive guidance. Home is not a reward for the successfully religious. It is the place where the Father’s presence holds us. Perhaps your road looks respectable. You may not be fleeing geographically; you may be hiding in achievement, busyness, approval, or a carefully managed online life. The question remains: where is your running taking you, and what are you refusing to feel while you go? God’s presence means there is no place from which you must first escape before you can pray. Today, slow down long enough to name the road. Then ask the God who is already there to guide your next step. His hand is not merely at the finish line. It is reaching for you now, even on the far side of the sea.
"Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you."
A song for the road you're on.

Pull Me Closer Dirt Road Gospel Music DirtRoadGospelMusic.com [Verse 1] I've been running down a road that don't lead home Driving on these fumes with nothing left to call my own Every mile's just one more lie I hide behind From a love I'm terrified to let inside [Verse 2] I've worn this mask so long it's grown into my face Smiling like I'm fine while I'm falling out of grace But at 2 AM the silence starts to scream And I'm too worn out to hide, too weak to leave [Chorus] Pull me closer to Yourself, pull me through the dark Pull me past the wreckage of this barricaded heart I'm so tired of running, God, I can't outrun You Pull me closer to Yourself, won't You pull me through [Verse 3] I've been crying out until my voice is barely there Beating on a door You never locked, like You don't care But You're closer than my breath, than my next move Help me remember how to believe I'm loved by You [Chorus] Pull me closer to Yourself, pull me through the dark Pull me past the wreckage of this barricaded heart I can't keep running, God, I can't outrun You Pull me closer to Yourself, won't You pull me through [Bridge] Here I am, face down, hands open Nothing left to call my own Every road I ever ran down Was just the long way home [Final Chorus] Pull me closer to Yourself, pull me through the dark Tear down every wall I ever built around my heart I'm done with running, God, I'm done running from You Pull me closer to Yourself, pull me all the way through [Outro] Pull me closer Pull me closer I'm not running anymore
