Bless Me So I Can Spend More on Me

ConvictionComplacencyTemptationRepentance

A satirical rap that plays the prosperity-gospel prayer completely straight — and lets it condemn itself. The narrator brings God a shopping list (lake house, Escalades, Rolexes, a fleet of Cessnas), orders blessings “like I’m at a drive-thru window,” buys the seed-faith math (“plant a twenty, reap a Tesla”), performs worship for the camera, and admits he never read the whole Book, “just the part about the tithing.” The chorus is a mock-prayer that echoes the rich fool’s bigger barns: “Bless me, Lord, till the barns can’t hold it... Bless me so I can spend more on me.” Then the music stops and Jesus answers, dry as the grave: “This night, thy soul is required of thee.” ...guess the seed didn’t multiply that fast. The song is a mirror — and this devotional turns it on the reader, because there is a drive-thru prayer in every one of us. Seven days to trade the vending-machine god for the real One: to ask like a child instead of a customer, to open the barns, to worship for an audience of One, to read the whole Book, to love the Host more than the overflow — and to become, before the night your soul is required, rich toward God.

"Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth."
Luke 12:15

[Intro]
Bigger house, lake house, guest house too
Cadillac, Escalade, matching for the crew
Rolex on the left wrist, Presidential on the right
Diamond in the pinky catching all the light
Boat for the weekend, jet for the trip
Six-figure raise and a promotion, real quick
Portfolio poppin', crypto on the rise
Bigger church, bigger platform, bigger prize
Pool out back, home theater inside
Kids in private school, tuition paid, no lies
Say it, believe it, sow it, receive it
That's the list I brought — Lord, You gon' need it

[Verse 1]
Rented the suit, but I strut like it's paid off
Front row Sunday, hands up, flashin' my Rolex knockoff
Told the Lord my order like I'm at a drive-thru window
"Extra blessing, hold the guilt, add a lake house, let's go"
Preacher on the mic sellin' seeds like a dope man
Said "sow a hundred, reap a mansion," I'm all in, no plan B
Signed my name on the pledge card, wrote it in cursive
Faith's a hustle when the offering plate's my service

[Chorus]
So bless me, Lord, till the barns can't hold it
Bless me till the bank can't fold it
Pour it out and let it be
Bless me so I can spend more on me

[Verse 2]
New chain, new whip, new crib out in the burbs
Told the deacon "watch me flex," passed the plate, no words
Everybody clappin' like I'm caught up in the Spirit
Really just checkin' if the camera's got my good side in it
Seed-faith math got me thinkin' I'm the smartest hustler livin'
Plant a twenty, reap a Tesla, that's the gospel I'm given
Called it faith when the bank statement kept climbin'
Never read the whole Book, just the part about the tithing

[Chorus]
So bless me, Lord, till the barns can't hold it
Bless me till the bank can't fold it
Pour it out and let it be
Bless me so I can spend more on me

[Bridge]
Guy on TV said debt's a demon, sellin' me the cure
Diamond-crusted Bible, leather pew, private tour
Jet fund matching program, sow a twenty, get a wing
Prayed for a fleet of Cessnas, Lord, I'm not playing
Grace works like a rewards card, miles for every prayer
Points for every offering, redeem 'em anywhere
Cup's supposed to run over, that's the promise they sold
Mine just needs a bigger cup — matter fact, make it gold

[Chorus]
So bless me, Lord, till the barns can't hold it
Bless me till the bank can't fold it
Pour it out and let it be
Bless me so I can spend more on me
Bless me so I can spend more on me

[Outro]
"This night, thy soul is required of thee."
(beat)
...guess the seed didn't multiply that fast.
